St John the Baptist Church


St John the Baptist Church in Finchingfield, Essex is a historic Grade I listed church (on National Heritage List for England) with a Norman tower, 13th and 14th century body, and a 15th century chancel screen.

The church’s earliest part is the West tower, which dates to around 1170. The chancel was rebuilt in the mid-13th century and the church was restored in 1865-66 by Henry Stock. When the South porch was built in 1865 in early Perpendicular style. The ring of eight bells was installed in 1781 and the clock was installed in 1902 to mark the coronation of King Edward VII.
