Wethersfield Airfield Museum

The Wethersfield Airfield Museum is a small museum dedicated to preserving the military and social history of RAF Wethersfield airfield during World War II and the Cold War. Entry to Wethersfield Airfield Museum is free, but donations are welcome.

The museum tells the story of RAF Wethersfield, an airfield that was active from 1944 until 1990. It highlights the Anglo-American cooperation and the roles played by both the RAF and the United States Air Force (USAF) units stationed there during this time. Exhibits primarily consist of photographs and documents, detailing the aircraft and experiences of the aircrews. One notable display includes a photo and information on Lt. Col. George T. Morgan, a former base commander and SR-71 reconnaissance systems officer.

The original Wethersfield Airfield Museum was founded in 2015 at the airfield, but it closed in October 2021 after sadly being told to vacate its original premises on the airfield. A new location was found in Finchingfield, and the museum reopened to the public in August 2024.
